Making large carbon shifts - from energy to industry and in key countries and regions.

A core global interest is in moving towards efficient and sustainable energy practices for both consumption and production. Can this be extended to both developed and developing countries? What are the implications of the Paris agreement for green technology, especially for Europe, Asia and Africa? Traditional manufacturing and production methods are in rapid transformation.

How we ensure that they are also sustainable, especially when faced with intense global competition and the push towards relocation of industry to low-wage countries. Incremental approaches may be insufficient for the task ahead. How to scale up clean technologies? What could be the role of institutional and private capital investments in renewables and what are the necessary regulatory/policy interventions? Can green bonds help? Can we learn from Silicon Valley? How do poor countries and poor communities benefit? Does a carbon tax help in financing new investment and in changing lifestyles?

Chair:
Enrico GIOVANNINI, Spokesman of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development  (ASviS)
